What is ClaimValue?
ClaimValue is a free, independent online tool designed to give people in England and Wales a realistic starting estimate of what their personal injury claim could be worth. We built it because most people have no idea what their injury entitles them to — and that information gap means many people either don't claim at all, or accept the first offer an insurer makes without knowing if it's fair.
How does the calculator work?
Our calculator uses the UK Judicial College Guidelines — the same reference document used by solicitors, barristers, and courts across England and Wales to value general damages for pain, suffering, and loss of amenity. We combine this with your inputted financial losses (lost earnings, medical costs, and other expenses) to produce an estimated compensation range.
The ranges reflect real court-awarded values and solicitor negotiation outcomes for each injury type and severity level. All figures are updated to reflect the 2022 Judicial College Guidelines, the most current edition available.
Who built this?
ClaimValue was built as an independent public resource. We are not a law firm, solicitor, or claims management company. We do not take referral fees or commissions from any legal services. Our only revenue comes from advertising displayed on this site.
